Give Groundbreakingly BIG

Sharing is caring!

GIVE BIG!Hello, friends! It’s time for GiveBIG, and DNDA is breaking BIG ground.

This past Saturday, DNDA merged with Duwamish Alive festivities for the groundbreaking of DNDA’s Wetlands and Stewardship Project! We partnered with Arbor Heights and K-8 STEM at Louisa Boren Elementary Schools, along with other community organizations, for a day of teaching and teamwork in nature conservation.

The event brought together community members of all ages and backgrounds to learn about the wetland, salmon cycles, and the health of our waters, and to get their hands dirty with some much needed clean-up! Volunteers came out to dig, plant new trees, cut and pile blackberry canes; children painted cut-outs of salmon to add to a mural in the works, and everyone enjoyed the scavenger hunt and pine cone relay race!

We’re so thankful to all who lent a hand, and are looking forward to continued collaboration in this very important restorative work.

As part of Seattle Foundation’s GiveBIG 2016, we ask that you consider becoming a Wetlands Steward by donating to the Delridge Wetlands and Stewardship Project on May 3rd.  And this year, you don’t need to wait until May 3rd, you can make your pledge online today!

Your donation will help support the continuation of the Wetlands and Stewardship Project by providing plants, funding field trips for local students, equipment and supplies, creating a dynamic landmark and kiosk, facilitating workshops for environmental education, and much more. GiveBIG to DNDA this year, and become a Wetlands Steward!

Reasons to GiveBIG!

Our work is made possible by the support of our beautiful community, and this past weekend’s event was proof of that. Take a look at what we did at Duwamish Alive!

Thank you for being a friend of DNDA! #GiveBIG
