a youth theatre program for ages 8 to 13, housed in the beautiful 100-year-old Youngstown Cultural Arts Center!
Over the course of 4 Saturdays, students will work with teaching artist and theatre maker Kyleigh Archer to write, devise, and act out a 20 to 30-minute show to be performed free to the public at Youngstown’s Thelma Dewitty Theatre on the final day, July 21st.
Engaging the students in creating their own play will stimulate artistic growth and confidence, and make space for vulnerability in sharing our stories in a new light. We strive to serve the families who need childcare support the most by offering 20 hours of free constructive childcare. Our goal is to grow a larger program that can continue to offer support for working and single income families. The program will utilize drama therapy techniques to strengthen social and literary skills, while creating art that is uniquely Seattle.
Kyleigh Archer is a director, designer, and theater teaching artist. Graduated from Cornish with B.F.A in Theatre, in both the acting and technical realms; she has spent the last 5 years working with school districts and non-profits to bring the joys of theater, story telling, and improv to students.
