DNDA’s Neighborhood team helps secure affordable housing for Delridge families so our community can put down roots in West Seattle, allowing future generations to thrive. We serve residents at different stages in life — low-income families, first-time homebuyers, individuals transitioning out of homelessness, residents living with disabilities, and more.
DNDA owns seven buildings across the region, professionally managed by United Marketing Inc., with a total of 144 residential units for rent at low costs, as well as three commercial units for nonprofit organizations and community services. Our Neighborhood team regularly collaborates with the Art department and teaching artists living in DNDA’s Cooper Artist Housing to bring free art activities and community programs to our residents.
DNDA’s Art, Nature, and Neighborhood teams come together to provide quality, free community programming exclusive to families living in affordable housing at DNDA and Seattle Housing Authority (SHA) properties in West and South Seattle.
Summer Youth Program (SYP)
Every year, DNDA coordinates an extensive, completely free Summer Youth Program (SYP) for local underserved youth to engage in art activities, outdoor adventures, and community gatherings. Hosted all summer long in collaboration with SHA and DNDA teaching artists, SYP features cultural cooking classes for kids, “Fun Fridays” with family barbecues and art activities, guided mural creation in neighborhood hubs, youth soccer in partnership with Intercity Soccer League, virtual reality workshops, and much more.
Every April during Seattle Public Schools’ spring break, DNDA’s Art team rallies about a dozen elementary school students living in Seattle Housing Authority’s High Point affordable housing site for a highly-anticipated week full of outdoor adventure and creativity. The kids spend each day getting to know Camp Long, where DNDA teaching artists and the Seattle Parks and Recreation crew teach them to rock climb, identify native plant species, create art using natural materials, photograph the forest, and much more — all at no cost. Learn more about our Art program at dnda.org/art.
DNDA’s Art team brings youth living at Croft Place Townhomes — one of DNDA’s affordable housing properties — a new art project every week, often integrating an outdoor activity during warm weather. DNDA teaching artists stop by to teach special skills to the kids, including cooking, playing musical instruments, dancing, and more.
