Summer Craziness!

Sharing is caring!

Sorry for not posting for a few weeks. The summer has been crazy, but highly productive. buphalo and I have been out in the Greenbelt Monday-Saturday for the past 3 weeks thus the lack of posts. We’ve been working with our summer youth employees from the Seattle Youth Employment Program (SYEP) and the Seattle Teen Employment Preparation Program (STEP), as well as a slew of other volunteer groups including: the Youth Volunteer Corps, Seattle Works, Laura’s House, and the Compass Center. It’s hard to keep up with the numbers but in the last month these groups have cut, cleared, and dug thousands of square feet of blackberry bramble, and pulled tons of english ivy. They’ve also helped move mulch down the trail, and they’ve sheet mulch some small areas. In addition, our younger volunteers have helped to water our thirsty plants during these dry summer months. We’re really excited about all the work that is getting done and looking forward to all the planting we’ll be able to do in these areas during the fall and winter.
