Totem Star Showcase a Great Success!

Sharing is caring!

Totem Star ShowcaseTotem Star music classes began at Youngstown this fall as part of the Work Readiness Art Program, bringing music and recording classes to West Seattle youth.  Totem Star is a non-profit multimedia, mentorship, and social justice education organization based in Seattle.  Since 2010, they have served over 120 youth through partnerships with the Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration, Seattle Youth Violence Prevention Initiative, Neighborhood House, and Seattle Parks and Recreation.

On Dec. 19th, the participating young artists put together an end-of-year showcase in the Youngstown Movement Studio, inviting friends, families, and neighbors to enjoy guest performances and original works.  Students put to practice the skills they have been learning in class, while sharing their producing and performing talents with the community.  You can read more about the event on the Totem Star website.  The showcase had a great turnout, and we look forward to hosting more Totem Star events at Youngstown as programming continues in 2014.
