Call for Artists: Performance & Visual Art Installation 2017

Sharing is caring!

About the Festival
The Arts in Nature Festival exists at the nexus of art, nature, and community. As Nature Consortium’s founding project, this two-day festival offers an eclectic experience of art and performance in the woods of Seattle’s only campground. Rather than rows of vendors and merchants, you’ll find four intimate performance stages, a ‘Museum of Sound’ in eight rustic cabins, interactive hands-on art and nature activities, and winding hiking trails through the great outdoors.

Perform at the Festival
Nature Consortium is now seeking artists to participate in the 2017 festival. Musicians, performers, theater and dance troupes are wanted for all stage areas including the Lodge, at the Pond and in the Meadow. (Performances at the pond must be acoustic and unplugged, though you may bring your own small battery-powered amp.) Last year, performers ranged from the Big World Breaks band to Etienne Capko to the Ricky Gene Puppet Show! Artist fees are $100 per performer per 45-60 minute performance with a cap of $350 per group.

Visual Art Installation
Sound and multimedia artists can apply to create weekend-long visual art installations in eight rustic cabins scattered throughout Camp Long. Installations must be open and staffed from 11am – 7pm on Saturday, 8/26 and 11am – 6pm on Sunday, 8/27. Installation set-up hours will take place Friday, 8/25 from 11am – 8pm and Saturday, 8/26 from 8am – 11am. Artist fees are $300 for the weekend. Artists are welcome to spend the night in their cabin Friday and Saturday night.

From installation artist Holli Margell: “As an artist, it provided me with a venue to showcase a full-sensory celebration of trees that included a cabin full of freshly-cut tree boughs accompanying recorded bird songs and nature portraits.”
