Congrats Ms. Amaranta’s Eco Arts class, you’re our crush of the week.

The atmosphere in the art room is always lively. Students are excited and eager to learn. The classes have proven to be popular. Registration at Rainier Vista is completely full, and students come back excited every week for each new lesson.

Amaranta Ibarra-Sandys teaches Eco Arts every Friday at our Rainier Vista site. She is a long-time instructor with Nature Consortium and specializes in ceramics and mixed media visual arts. Her Eco Arts projects use 2-D and 3-D media to help students not only create fun works of art, but also to expand their arts and environmental knowledge.

In last Friday’s class, we studied the concepts of symmetry and pattern by creating colorful mandalas. Another class focused on glaciers and arctic habitat. Students learned about where glaciers are located, how they form and why they melt, and created their own arctic scenes with collage.

Amaranta’s Eco Arts class is featured in our latest video “The Story in the Soil,” where we highlight Nature Consortium’s programs and goals.
