Community Spotlight: Seattle Farm School
Making the best with what you got
The demand for instant results is seeping into every aspect of our lives; we are fueled by instant gratification, from online shopping to same day delivery – we have forgotten the simple pleasures of creating. It’s one thing to buy, but there’s a sense of pride and joy from homemade and homegrown. That’s the goal behind Seattle Farm School.
Founded by Katie Stemp, Seattle Farm School offers classes and a community in the art of urban homesteading. Fascinated by country living and a family that made things from scratch, Stemp took her creative energy into supporting others into developing their homesteading skills.
We’re excited to have Seattle Farm School bring their classes here to Youngstown! They offer urban homesteading education through fun hands-on classes – everything you need to know to become self-reliant, self-sufficient and live a more sustainable lifestyle.
The overall mission for the classes is to bring the community together and learn domestic arts such as cooking, food preservation, canning, fruit and vegetable gardening, composting, backyard chickens, sewing, knitting, crochet, wood working, construction, arts and crafts, soap and salve making, emergency preparedness and so much more! As a mom of two young kids, Stemp is thrilled to be offering so many classes for parents and children together. The talented teachers are there to help you learn skills that will benefit your life in all ways handmade and homegrown. Join them! Bring a friend or family member and learn something new and exciting!
