Volunteer in the Forest
Volunteering With Us:
DNDA offers twice-weekly opportunities for hands-on volunteering outdoors in the forests of West Seattle. Volunteers work to support our mission, values, history and commitment to social justice in the Delridge neighborhood.
In addition to removing invasive plants, planting trees and native shrubs, and cleaning up our parks, we seek to continuously provide a supportive, friendly and enriching environment to every volunteer’s talents.
Our volunteer forest restoration events happen year-round and are a great opportunity for school field trips and environmental lessons, companies to give back to their communities and do team-building, and neighbors to get outside and volunteer in local parks.

What to Bring
- Working out in the elements requires the right apparel. Long pants and closed-toed shoes are required, even in the summer.
- All volunteers under 18 participating without a parent, are required to bring a completed Youth Waiver Form.
- Bring any water or snacks you might want during the volunteer event.
- If you have your own pair of work gloves you are encouraged to bring them. If you don’t that’s okay, we will have some for you.
Please note: Most sites are in the forest and do not have a bathroom present.

Event
You and your fellow volunteers will participate in fun, hands-on conservation work led by staff from DNDA's Nature Team. Restoration work includes removing invasive plants, planting native species, and mulching new plantings, depending on time of year and the restoration progress in each site.

What to bring: Long pants, warm and dry layers, closed-toed shoes and rain gear as needed. Bring any water you might want during the volunteer event. If you have your own pair of work gloves, feel free to bring them. Signed youth waiver form, if under 18.

* Take the West Seattle Bridge exit off either highway.
* From the bridge take the Admiral Way exit onto SW Admiral Way.
* Turn right onto SW Waite St.
* Turn right onto 51st Ave SW.
* Our site is located on the NE side of 51st Ave SW and SW College St.
Street parking should be available, however, do not park on grass lawns in the area.

* Continue straight and you will see the Wetland Park on your right

Our staff will be meeting volunteers at the park located at the cross street of 23rd Ave SW and SW Findlay St.

* Take the West Seattle Bridge exit off either highway.
* From the bridge take the Delridge Way SW/South Seattle Comm. College exit (right hand exit).
* Stay to your left to exit onto Delridge Way SW.
* Turn left at SW Andover St. This is the first light after exiting off of the bridge.
* Turn right at 21st Ave. SW.
* Turn left at SW Genesee St.
Park in the Pathfinder K8 school parking lot.
Our staff will meet you at the park entrance located at the south end of the parking lot.

* Proceed south on Delridge Way SW
* Turn right onto SW Barton Street
* Turn left onto 30th Ave SW
* Turn left onto SW Cambridge St
* Turn left onto 29th Ave SW
Both lot and on-street parking are available here. Our staff will meet at the southeast end of the parking lot near the bathroom structure.
Busing Directions: The site is directly south of bus stops for Metro Routes 21, 60, 120, 125 and Rapid Ride C.

Location: 14th Ave SW and SW Holly St
Driving Directions:
From I-5 or Route 99 (heading north or south):
* Take the West Seattle Bridge exit off either highway.
* From the bridge take the Delridge Way SW/South Seattle Comm. College exit (right hand exit)
* The exit will wind around to the left & turn into Delridge Way, travel south on Delridge to the third light (follow signs to SSCC)
* At light (just past the pedestrian overpass), turn left onto SW Oregon St.
* Follow this hilly arterial street as it winds around and eventually makes a hairpin turn to the right and turns into 16th Ave. SW
* Follow 16th Ave. SW and after ¼ mile SSCC will be on the left hand side
* Three blocks past the college take a left on SW Myrtle St.
* Take a left onto 14th Ave SW. Follow 14th Ave SW until it ends at the trailhead
Riverview Playfield parking lot will be straight ahead.
Our Staff will be meeting you on the east end of the parking lot.
