Ribbon Cutting for Sheila Brown Gateway at Camp Long

Join us on Saturday, February 10!

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) and Delridge Neighborhoods Development Association (DNDA) invite the community to participate in a ribbon-cutting celebration for the new entrance at Camp Long that honors the camp’s long-time director, Sheila Brown. Please join us at SW Brandon Street and 29th Ave SW on Saturday, February 10, from 11am to 12:30pm. The event will be a fun community celebration with food, SPR and DNDA environmental educators and naturalists, music, and community.

The new gate reflects the west entrance of the park and provides a more attractive, inviting, and equitable opportunity for all visitors to the park. The project includes an interpretive map placed at the Camp Long trail entrance. The project is the result of a pedestrian study done by SPR and Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) in 2019 and also a passion of Sheila Brown’s to improve community connections at Camp Long.

The new entrance gateway is a great example of a public/private partnership with DNDA as the fiscal sponsors managing more than 125 donors. SPR provided project management with additional design work and implementation budget. You can read more about the project at dnda.org/nature/gateway-project.

For the event, please park on 26th Ave. SW in front of Greg Davis Park and walk along the Longfellow Creek Trail to the event that will take place on 29th Ave. SW. No RSVP required.
