8 Fun Activities for Fall in Seattle

As summer winds down in Seattle, we’re getting ready for fall. Here’s a list of fun fall activities to do around Seattle.
Visit a Local Park
Changing leaves will soon light up the city with a pop of color. Parks like Green Lake, Lincoln Park, and the Arboretum are great places to enjoy the fall colors here in the city. And if you’re up for a hike, the Washington Trails Association has a list of the best fall hikes in the mountains.
Pick Apples
There are lots of apple and other fruit trees around Seattle. This map made by CityFruit show just how many. Now is about the time of year when apples begin to ripen and fall to the ground. You can make the most of those fruit by freezing, canning, or drying them for later – or make them into pies or cider to share with friends. If you or a friend have extra apples in the yard, consider donating them to those in need. The volunteers at Community Fruit Tree Harvest can come pick healthy fruit from your yard to take to local food banks and shelters.
Plant A Forest
Fall marks the start of planting season at Nature Consortium, and we’re kicking it off with a big event called Duwamish Alive. Join us as we continue our work to replant the West Duwamish Greenbelt. Sign up for a work party on our volunteer page.

Take An Art Class
Fall art classes at NatureC start September 10th. We’ve got a full schedule of after school classes at Yesler and Rainier Vista including gardening, world drumming, jewelry, and more. Check out our calendar to see the latest schedule.
Elles at Seattle Art Museum
Opening October 11th, this landmark exhibition showcases more than 130 works of art made by 75 women artists from 1907 to 2007. “This ambitious survey of daring painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, video, and installation by innovative women artists offers a fresh perspective on a history of modern and contemporary art.” Also check out SAM’s accompanying exhibition highlighting female artists from the Northwest.
Fall Farm Jubilee
Celebrate the fall harvest September 15 at Jubilee Farm in Carnation, WA. PCC Farmland Trust is throwing a Fall Farm Jubilee featuring hayrides, local food, ice cream, kids’ activities, and tours of the farm. Bikes are welcome, but pets are not, according to their event page.
Affordable Art Fair
November 8-11, at Seattle Center. At this four-day fair, you’ll find original artwork – paintings, sculptures, photography, and more – from upcoming and well-known artists for as low as $100, with many pieces under $5,000. The fair is also set to have workshops and panels, tours, installations, that are sure to please both first-time buyers and seasoned art collectors.
CityArts Fest
The makers of CityArts Magazine present four days of concerts at venues all over Seattle. This year’s lineup features indie, pop, and hiphop artists including a few local favorites. They’ll also be throwing art events and other social adventures. Check out the full lineup and buy tickets at cityartsfest.com.
