Youth Art News: Juneteenth & more

Sharing is caring!

June marks the beginning of summer programming in the Youth Art Program. Starting June 25th, we’ll be expanding our programming to offer art classes at three different locations in the Rainier Vista area: the Boys & Girls Club, Neighborhood House, and Genesee House. Come join us for Hip-Hop Dance, Jewelry-Making, Recycled Design, and more!

Meanwhile at Yesler Community Center, we are gearing up for the annual Juneteenth community celebration. Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, is a national holiday that commemorates the abolition of slavery in the US. In the spirit of celebrating community, freedom, and equal rights, the Juneteenth celebration at Yesler will celebrate a diversity of cultures through performance, art, and food. The event will feature locally made ethnic foods, fun activities for youth, performances by community members and Youth Art Program youth, and information about local services and programs.

Where: Yesler Community Center, 917 E Yesler Way
When: Friday, June 15th from 5pm-7:30
