Communications Specialist:
Program Description
Delridge Neighborhoods Development Association (DNDA) is a non-profit serving the Delridge Neighborhoods of Southwest Seattle. For the past 20 years DNDA has advanced its mission through a range of approaches — including the development, ownership, and management of affordable housing and community facilities, the operation of the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center with its full range of arts and youth programming, social justice and environmental initiatives, and collaboration with community partners to advocate for and implement neighborhood improvements.
Position
The Communications & PR Specialist will be responsible for oversight of the strategic communications plan (to include comprehensive branding, public relations strategy, and marketing); driving communications strategy and brand development initiatives; public communications, including strategic communications planning, public relations, media relations, social media strategy; and marketing. The position may also assist with event management, sponsorships, and grant proofing. A collaborative, team-approach work style is essential. This is a part-time position, working primarily out of the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center and reporting to DNDA’s Development Manager. 20 hours/week, paying $16-20/hour depending on qualifications. For an interested candidate with all relevant qualifications, this position may possibly be combined with the currently posted Development Associate position, under the discretion of DNDA’s management. The position is open until filled.
Responsibilities
• Help develop and implement a comprehensive Communications plan, including branding, public relations strategy, and marketing
• Drive communications strategy and brand development initiatives
• Public communications, including strategic communications planning
• Public relations, media relations and social media strategy
• Proof read grant materials as necessary
• Support other staff and board in cultivating relationships with major donors
• Recruit and manage Marketing Intern(s)
• Help coordinate fundraising events, campaigns, and appeals
Professional qualifications, experience, and attributes
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Exceptionally strong attention to detail
• Strong time and project management skills
• Technical savvy with databases (Salesforce preferred), Word and Excel
• Graphic design experience and understanding of Adobe Creative Suite and/or similar software
• Ability to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions
• Understanding of communications tools and tactics, including print and social media
• Excellent people and collaboration skills, strong team player
• Interest in working in a diverse work environment committed to social justice practices
• Ability to work with detailed information with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently

Development Associate:

The Development Associate will be responsible for writing and proof-reading grants, submitting grant reports as instructed, entering donor information into Salesforce/database, stewarding relationships with institutional, individual, and corporate funders, and helping plan and coordinate fundraising events. A collaborative, team-approach work style is essential. This is a part-time position, working primarily out of the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center and reporting to the Development Manager. 20 hours/week, paying $16-20/hour depending on qualifications. • Research potential funding sources
• Coordinate with Executive Director, Development Manager and other staff to compile relevant project information and all necessary grant materials
• Work as an important team member in a small, results-oriented development team
• Write & proof-read grants as needed by agency
• Satisfy all grant reporting requirements in a timely manner
• Enter grant and donor records into CRM/Salesforce/database, and run reports as needed
• Support other staff and board in cultivating relationships with major donors
• Help plan and coordinate fundraising events, campaigns, and appeals
