Eid al-Fitr Celebration!
This past Monday, DNDA joined in celebrating the end of Ramadan with a special Eid-al-Fitr event hosted at the Delridge Community Center in West Seattle. Music and more filled the decorative and lively gymnasium of this local community center. Somali singers and performers kick-started the event with vibrant music and dancing, while kids enjoyed an arts and crafts table, beautiful henna designs, face-painting and amazing food! This event was a huge success in mobilizing families to come together in celebrating the importance of the Islamic tradition of Ramadan. This event could not have been possible without the help of DNDA’s Cultural Events Series sponsor, The Seattle Department of Neighborhoods and partner organizations, such as The West Seattle Time Bank, ARC, Seattle Parks and Recreation, Southwest Youth and Family Services, and the Somali Family Safety Task Force. A special thanks to all of the volunteers and Delridge Community Center for hosting the 4th event of DNDA’s 2016 Cultural Events Series. Be sure to look out for our next event in the series, Delridge Day, coming up next month right next door at the Delridge Community Center Skatepark!
