Immersed in Nature: Open Call for Live Painters
This call is now closed! Thank you for your interest and participation in Immersed in Nature. For another artist opportunity, please see our open Artist Call for the 2020 Arts in Nature Festival here.
Immersed in Nature – CALL CLOSED
DNDA is seeking visual artists to create original works during the 2020 Arts in Nature Festival. The Immersed in Nature live painting program will feature 20 artists who will each create an original painting using oil-based or acrylic paints on a 24″ by 36″ canvas.
This program will take place from 12:30pm to 6:00pm on Saturday, June 20, 2020. Artists must be present for the duration of this time, and paintings must be completed by or before 6:00pm.
Artists will paint alongside each other in the idyllic meadow of Camp Long at the Arts in Nature Festival. Festival attendees will vote for their favorite work of art throughout the day, and the artist with the most votes will receive $500.
Participating artists will not be compensated beyond this award; however, all artists’ work will be on display for the thousands of community members who attend the Arts in Nature Festival. We encourage all participating artists to connect with attendees, promote their work, and sell their piece following the event.
Artists must provide these supplies in order to participate:
- Standing easel
- Paint (oil-based or acrylic), palette and brushes
- 24″ by 36” canvas
Artist Benefits
Immersed in Nature is intended to be a unique opportunity for artists to work alongside one another while being inspired by the great outdoors. Artists will not receive a stipend for participating, with the exception of the community favorite who will be awarded $500. However, by having their art on display, artists will have the opportunity to connect with community members, promote their work, and sell their Immersed in Nature painting.
Artists will also have the chance to receive community feedback through written comments. These comments will be submitted by festival attendees and placed in a comment box; if artists choose to receive feedback, DNDA will send comments via email following the festival.
About the Arts in Nature Festival (AINF)
The Arts in Nature Festival is a free, family-friendly event held at Camp Long, Seattle’s only campground. The purpose of the festival is to gather our community in nature and demonstrate the intersection of art, nature, and neighborhood.
Community members from across the city join us for this annual celebration, and last year we featured over 63 participating artists across a wide range of creative disciplines. For next year’s festival we’re excited to announce our theme, Eternal Sunshine, as the 2020 AINF will take place during the summer solstice.
